Hastings Podiatry Centre knows all about orthotics and orthoses and... well you know what we mean!

We use the following type of custom orthoses

• The rigid orthotic provides the ultimate support for your foot and control of your gait pattern. These devices are made from plaster casts taken specifically from your foot and sent to a laboratory to be custom-made from prescription. The waiting time is approximately three weeks.
• We also stock a full range of accommodative off-the-shelf devices for your immediate foot support. These devices are not custom-designed to your foot, but they do provide a cheaper alternative to the EVA or rigid orthotic. This device will only be recommended at consultation if found suitable for your foot complaint.

The Richie Brace

We are also qualified to prescribe The Richie Brace - U.S patented technology. A custom ankle foot orthosis (AFO) designed to treat chronic conditions of the foot and ankle.

The Richie Brace is carefully fabricated for your foot or leg according to your podiatrists prescription and specifications. The Richie Brace AFO offers an excellent non-operative approach to the most challenging pathologies treated by foot and ankle practitioners.

QOL Scanmate

Hastings Podiatry Centre has recently acquired updated technology for scanning of custom made accommodative / rigid orthotics. With the QOL Scanmate a structure sensor is utilised which provides accuracy within a fraction of a millimetre to enable a better fabrication of orthotics for our patients. You can receive maximum comfort and time efficiency during the scan procedure compared to a traditional plaster cast.
